Griffith hosted the first swimming event of the summer recently with some top performance from up-and-coming local swimmers. Over the day there were 13 Riverina records broken with Griffith swimmers breaking 12 of those. Will Donaldson was the standout setting six new records while Zaine Della Franca and Harrison Waide broke three records each. Donaldson had an outstanding day in the pool picking up wins across all of the events he entered. Starting the day with success in the 15yrs boys 200m Individual Medley, Donaldson would go on to pick up gold medals in 50m Freestyle, 100m Butterfly, 100m Freestyle, 100m Backstroke and 100m Breaststroke. It was an equally successful weekend for Zanine Della Franca who picked up six medals in six events. In the 13 yrs division he started the day off with success in the 200m Individual Medley and went on to back up his performance with further success in 50m Freestyle, 100m Butterfly, 100m Freestyle, 100m Backstroke and finished his weekend with victory in the 200m Freestyle event. Wanting to prove age was no barrier Harrison Waide competed across two different age groups and picked up a haul of medals in those events. Starting with 7yrs and under races, he picked up first places in 25m Freestyle, 25m Butterfly, 25m Backstroke and 25m Breaststroke. The seven-year-old backed up his performance with first place in 50m Freestyle, 50m Butterfly and 50m Backstroke as well as a second in 50m Breaststroke in the 8yrs and under division.
