'Dashi' the ginger kitten was being driven home for the first time by its new owner in Blackett, Sydney's West just before midday yesterday, when the frightened feline made a run for it, scampering behind the dashboard where it got stuck.
A distress call went out to the crew from the Ropes Crossing Fire Station, who carefully took apart the dash of the Holden sedan to free the uninjured, ginger kitty during a two-hour operation.
Now named "Dashi" by its owner as a result of its ordeal, firefighters pulled off the 'purr-fect' rescue effort to free the uninjured, ginger kitty.
