Telstra says an issue blocking some customers from making and receiving calls has been fixed.

The telco announced the mobile calling issue was fixed just after 10am on May 9 after it was detected overnight.
"Some customers may need to retry calling if it doesn't connect the first time, but then you'll be good to go," a Telstra spokesperson said.
"Mobile data and calls to Triple Zero if you had coverage were not affected at any stage."
The majority of affected customers were in NSW and Queensland.
"We're sorry for the impact this had to people's days. Our team worked to get everyone calling again as quickly as possible," the spokesperson said.

Earlier the telco had responded to frustrated customers on Twitter, saying it was "working hard to get [the service] back ASAP".
It had recommended customers try switching airplane mode on and off or try making a data call through WiFi or apps such as Face Time.
