The Division 1 lads made history again at the weekend, claiming outright first place on the Ballarat District Soccer Association's Premier League ladder for the first time since 2001.
The Saints' 2-0 win against former heavyweights Forest Rangers was also their first victory against Forest since 2001.
The win proved to be vital, with Warrnambool Rangers losing 3-1 to Sebastopol Vikings, giving Daylesford a three-point break at the top of the table.
Goals from Bear Hackenberger and Claudia Ayrton, were enough for Daylesford to see off Rangers, who had some decent possession but failed to break clear.
Hiroshi Masuda and Daniel Leon were dominant in midfield and won the ball on every occasion, looking like they have played together for decades.
Leon came closest to scoring in the first half, with a cracking shot from 25 yards flying narrowly over.
It was 0-0 at half-time, with the Saints' defence looking to be on top.
Jordy Barnes was sweeping up dangers and Jimi General was winning tackles.
Goals arose from excellent build-up play in the second half, with Josh Duffy playing his best game in weeks and having a decent chance saved.
The highlight of the game was the return to form of Lachlan Torpedo, who was ruthless in his tackles and offensive duties up the ground, completing more passes than anyone.
Dylan and Jack Nulty were again solid, again showing the depth of the squad.
Next is another tough match against North United, who sit below Daylesford by just a few games.
A win will put the Saints into a firm placing, but a loss will see any advantage disappear on the run home.
DIVISION 2
The Division 2 side had a hard 3-0 loss to North United, with the full story not told in the scoreline.
Daylesford had plenty of chances to score a few but let in some easy goals.
Good games were played by Daniel Richardson, Shank H and Dragi Koleski.
It was a tough game on a small pitch, and it didn't happen on the day for the lads. The loss will make the finals hard to reach.
