Friday, Rob Snarski with Shane O'Mara @ Bridge Hotel Castlemaine
Since the release of Snarski's debut solo album Wounded Bird, there's been an album of cover songs (recorded on an iPhone), Low Fidelity, then the return to his band The Blackeyed Susans for Close Your Eyes and See ... and in-between a set of family tales within his memoir You're Not Rob Snarski - Crumbs from the Cake.
Sparrow & Swan (his second solo album) delves into storytelling and narrative, with Brisbane cab drivers, girls from Belfast '74 in search of Van Morrison, football players and their protégés, relationships sparked in TABs, sightings of Robert Mitchum at Mitcham Station, a sailor in search of Helsinki, the weather and plenty more.
The album was recorded at Yikesville in Yarraville, with superb guitarist Shane O'Mara producing with a cast of musicians including the vocal talents of Rebecca Barnard, duo Broads, Kiernan Box on piano, Ben Franz and Rosie Westbrook on double bass and Ben Wiesner on drums and percussion.
Snarski will perform two sets from 9pm.
