It’s the simple things that make a house a home, and for 91-year-old Ron Kay it’s the flower box outside his window at the Trentham Nursing Home.
Ron and his wife Coral have been tending to their special floral arrangements since Ron moved into the Trentham Nursing Home two months ago. “There’s a good atmosphere living here, it’s comfortable, friendly and has a nice outlook,” Ron says.
For Hepburn Health Aged Service, looking after the elderly is a priority. Hepburn Health has five residential aged care facilities in the region: Creswick Nursing Home, Daylesford Nursing Home, Lumeah Lodge at Daylesford, the Trentham Nursing Home and Trentham Hostel.
There are 95 beds across all the facilities with a range of high and low care provided. Most residents have their own large private bedrooms, while communal areas offer opportunities to socialise with other residents, friends, family and visitors.
“Our aim is to provide excellent resident-centred care,” says Hepburn Health Interim Chief Nursing Officer, Barbara Harrison. Ms Harrison said during Hepburn Health’s recent accreditation, one resident expressed that they no longer felt lonely, but instead felt they were back with family and friends.
