The tournament was Hives’ fourth event back after a three-month layoff during the year with bone stress to her rib.
After a couple of early exits upon return, Sunday delivered the result the 21-year-old was seeking. Hives dominated the International Tennis Federation circuit final, beating number five seed Ellen Perez 6-0, 6-2.
After dropping the first set of the week in her opening round, Hives then won 10 sets in a row en route to the championship.
Hives in now ranked 309 in the world.
She will continue to hit the matchcourt as she builds towards a strong Australian summer.
