The young farmers hope that their idea for a Kingston Car and Truck Show will not only raise money for the Kingston CFA, but will also raise awareness of their group.
Secretary Kayla James said many people from the shire travelled to truck shows so the group thought it would be a great idea to hold one locally.
Treasurer Linda McKenzie said she hoped the event would raise the group’s profile among young people living within the region and that it would result in more people signing up.
“We really want to raise awareness that we are here, that people can join and be a part of the community,” Ms McKenzie said.
“It’s about getting young farmers off the land so they can have a life off the farm. This is really important because it helps with mental health.”
President Brandon May added that the group hosted events because it was a great way for young people to get out into their communities, which in turn kept them in the area in the long term.
He said the group was trying to host more family friendly events for people within the region to look forward to.

“There’s the Kingston Rodeo and a few other smaller events throughout the year, but that’s it really. So we are going to try to make this an annual community event.”
The Kingston Car and Truck Show is planned to be a fun event for everybody in the community, with free kids activities, food and drinks and a special guest appearance.
Highlights of the two day event will be live music on the Saturday night and the general truck show and car competition, which will be judged on the Sunday.
Entry to the two day event is by gold coin donation, which will be donated to the Kingston CFA.
The Kingston Car and Truck Show will take place at Kingston Showgrounds from 10am on Saturday October 20. Camping is available overnight before the event concludes the afternoon of Sunday October 21.
