Melville, who plays guitar, is accompanied by saxophonists Gideon Brazil on tenor and Monty Mackenzie on alto.
The group are visiting rural independent bookshops, art galleries and libraries to perform their unique style of music in a number of free concerts from Trentham to Beechworth.
He said that by playing in smaller spaces, the trio was trying to increase engagement with the community.
“It’s sort of like house concerts… you get to meet people,” he said.
The jazz trio released its debut album Quiet Sufficient in March 2017 and is using the tour as a way to test new material.
