From completing a giant crossword puzzle as a community, a dystopian fiction presentation by Ina Bertrand, to a children’s party, poetry, a live performance of The Pig and Whistle from Peter Fernon, a Henry Handel Richardson event with ensuing discussion from historians and presenters, a film screening of The Getting of Wisdom and a Book Club without Borders reading challenge, there is plenty to entertain everybody.
The program also includes four writing competitions, including the Ellen Kemp Memorial writing prize, with this year’s theme being chemistry, a contemporary poetry and bush poetry competition. These competitions close on July 20.
Redbeard Bakery’s annual 50 word writing competition is also running again this year. Entry forms are available at the bakery or online, with entries closing on August 12.
The full festival program is available at the Trentham Neighbourhood Centre.
