Crime in the area was at a 10 year high last year with 724 criminal incidents recorded in the region. This year, the statistics reveal the number of criminal incidents for the year ending in March 2018, is down to 640.
Theft was the highest recorded criminal act with 200 offences recorded.
Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas said the investment in new police was seeing an impact on the ground, bringing crime in the region down by 3.7 per cent.
“The latest crime statistics highlight the relentless work Hepburn Shire police are doing – day in, day out – to keep people in our community safe, she said.
