The theme of the show is “Oriental Reflections” and will feature a display of quilts that the five members of the committee have been working on for the past six months.
Many of the 30 quilts to be displayed are hand sewn while others are completed on a sewing machine.
Treasurer of the Spa Quilters Guild of Daylesford, Carolyn Evans, said the quilts come in all different shapes and sizes, from small wall hangings, to large quilts and feature popular quilting techniques like sewing, applique, piecing and patchwork.
Secretary Yvette Reading, said she enjoyed participating in the quilters group.
“I like to sew and quilting within a group has expanded my experience.”
She said profits from the show would be put towards buying materials for the group’s annual project, during which its members sew quilts for children at the foster care program at Ballarat’s Ludbrooke House.
Ludbrooke House is the local arm of Child and Family Services which has coordinated a foster care program.
Ms Reading said Ludbrooke House was chosen as it is a local family welfare group. “Foster children go to and come from Ludbrook House in Daylesford.”
Last year, the Spa Quilters stitched and poured love into over 50 quilts.
“Making quilts for the children gives me a lot of joy,” Ms Reading said.
Apart from the display, the show will include a challenge display, a raffle, for which the group has been selling raffle tickets outside Daylesford Newsagency for two weekends, a member’s boutique and quilting shop stalls.
The show will be held at Daylesford Primary School’s from 10am to 5pm on Saturday June 9 and 10am to 4pm on Sunday June 10.
Entry is $5 per person.
