The issue will be considered at next week’s council meeting in Daylesford on May 15.
Mayor John Cottrell said the decision to appoint an interim CEO is positive.
“Councillors are confident that Bruce will help steer the organisation in a positive way during this transition period to a new CEO and the move to The Rex.
“The recruitment process for a permanent CEO will remain ongoing,” he said.
The move follows current CEO, Aaron van Egmond’s decision to leave his role at Hepburn Shire on June 1 for the role of CEO at Melbourne’s Hobson’s Bay Council.
Pending the decision to be made at the council meeting, Mr Lucas would assume the role on June 2.
