Track fittings and machine spares were stolen from the heritage railway site along the rear of the East Street industrial estate.
Railway volunteer Steven Fiume said the equipment stolen was irreplaceable.
“You can’t buy them off the shelf. We had a lot of spares for our machinery, now if it breaks we have to get parts custom manufactured which may cost hundreds of thousands of dollars,” Mr Fiume said.
Mr Fiume said volunteers would look to increase security at the site.
“We will put in more security and install fencing to keep people out of the station during the week,” Mr Fiume said.
