Formerly the Capo Bros, acoustic musos Andy Vogel and Trevor Shard having been working their duo round the local circuit over the last couple of years.
Describing their sound as “rootsy, alt-country, bluesy folk”, they pick up the trail of their favourite songwriters and give it a twist, with their own special blend of tight harmonies, guitars, squeezebox and harmonica.
Saturday, Family Farm @ The Spa Bar Daylesford
Imagine a trip from an old-time Appalachian front porch – through the country, bluegrass and blues of the American deep south, with a detour to shake a leg at an Australian bush dance.
March down Bourbon Street for New Orleans Mardi Gras jazz, sail to the Caribbean for carnival calypso, Jamaica’s ska and reggae, and the bossa nova of the beaches of Brazil, finally landing on the dance floor of the Daylesford, Victoria where Family Farm makes their home. Oh, and you can dance to it.
Sunday, JoJo Rainwater @ Old Hepburn Hotel
JoJo is said to exude Southern charm and humour, endearing audiences and opening hearts to his culture and heritage by the banks of the Mississippi River at Memphis, Tennessee. His parents were even high school sweethearts at the same school as Elvis Presley in the 1950s.
JoJo shares songs and stories about his Cherokee great grandmother from the Ozark mountains and his other grandparents – dirt-poor sharecroppers picking cotton in the summer sun of the Mississippi Delta.
