The statistics which were collected as part of the state government’s international visitor survey show a 44.6 per cent boost in international visitors to the Daylesford and Macedon Ranges region over the 12 months ending in March, the highest growth of any location throughout regional Victoria.
All up 2.7 million international tourists came to Victoria during the 12 months, contributing $7.3 million to the state economy.
Tourism and Major Events Minister John Eren said the results were a vote of confidence in regional Victoria, given that “many regions rely on the money and time tourists spend in their communities”.
Chinese tourists continue to make up the biggest portion of foreign visitors, with 570,000 visiting Victoria in the 12 month bracket ending in March.
