From the jazz cellars of Berlin to downtown New Orleans, Pugsley Buzzard has dazzled audiences with his unique brand of piano-driven boogie and blazing stride, in conjunction with his huge, mezmerizing voice.
Louis Armstrong, Dr John, Tom Waits and a hint of Fats Domino influence this unique singer/pianist.
His music spans the entire gamut of “Nawlin’s” sound.
You will be treated to almost equal parts gospel, swamp, barrelhouse, boogie and big ballads. Big voice, chunky piano, red hot bands and sassy horns, intriguing multidimensional songs.
Buzzard regularly performs around the world in an array of musical venues, from intimate shows in jazz clubs and bars to the concert stage at festivals.
Solo, duo, trio or with a 10-piece line up, he is guaranteed to deliver a mind-blowing show.
Sunday, Trudy & Phil Edgeley @ Horvat’s Supper Club
Phil Edgeley – “hard-edged blues slide trouper, nimble-fingered folk alchemist” – brings his trademark Churchill acoustic, Tim Kill Weissenborn and National Steel guitars, as well as a solid reputation as a songwriter.
In the words of Jim Conway, he is a “masterful guitarist and songwriter who performs with great heart and passion”.
Edgeley’s British folk/blues songwriting is complimented by Trudy Edgeley's tempos and melodies.
Friday, McKFunk & Tyler @ Farmers Arms, Creswick
Daylesford singer/songwriter Tom Tyler Jr has had a life-long passion for making music.
He's been toiling on his guitar for the better part of 20 years. But life's commitments took over and it wasn't till 2009 that he decided to bring his melodic folk songs to the stage.
Since then, he's played a number of venues across Victoria and supported gicons like Phil Emmanuel, Kevin Borich and Lloyd Spiegel.
In 2012, he released an independent EP, One. The five original track disc received solid internet radio play. Tyler is currently working on a debut full length CD.
Richard McKfunk has a background of jazz/funk/rock/flamenco guitar with a diploma in music performance. Together, they play “good old pub favourites for all round entertainment”.
Sunday, Backyard Boogie @ Old Hepburn Hotel
Backyard Boogie is becoming a local institution and is even more appealing with warmer weather. It was created by local DJ Daniel Bayonas, who wanted to provide a relaxed, comfy environment for people to unwind in the sunshine.
