The teams division one manager Dot Bull said they were delighted to make such a strong start to the year after finishing toward the bottom of the ladder last year.
Daylesford overcame Sebastopol 77 to 52 in division one, 76 to 63 in division two, but was defeated by Creswick, 71 to 56 in division four. Bull said division one had a successful day in gusty conditions.
“We had a good day out on the green. We had three teams up and won the day. Sebas were a very strong team and we had our problems but we came through when had to,” Bulls said.
Smeaton also enjoyed a good season start, taking the honours against Webbcona 77-62 at Webbcona. “One division one team got on top of Sebas and never got below 15 up,” Bull said.
Bull’s team had a good battle and managed to stay on top by nine shots. Bull said the club was optimistic about the rest of the season and hoped alterations made to the teams would pay off on the green.
“We will have have to dig our toes in and see if we can continue to win,” Bull said. Daylesford play Webbcona next week – a meet Bull expected to be tough.
