The festive banners were installed last month in Vincent Street, with more decorations expected to be rolled out across the region in coming years.
Mayor Kate Redwood and fellow Birch ward councillor Pierre Niclas were successful in their budget bid of $15,000 to fund the non-religious decorations.
"Christmas can get stressful but these banners celebrate what is a happy time of year and are a reminder of what the season is all about - giving and receiving," Cr Niclas said.
"If we make one person smile, it will be worth the expense."
Cr Niclas said the banners are multi-use, and will be able to be used to promote other events across the shire.
"This is a long term project and we wanted to really get bang for our buck and make sure the banners could be used for other things," he said.
"We also want to bring the festive spirit to other towns soon, while letting them add their own flavour to it."
