The funding will allow the school to install a watering system in the school’s kitchen garden.
‘‘This will help our school use our precious water resources in a sustainable way and enable us to keep our garden alive over the summer months,’’ parent Sandy Scheltema said.
‘‘We hope our garden will continue to thrive and teach our children the joy of growing, harvesting and cooking healthy food.’’
Bullarto Primary School principal Arthur Lane said the garden started in 1942 and all the pupils at the school participated in the garden program in some way or another.
‘‘This grant will help the garden continue to flourish and provide food for the students,’’ he said.
The children will be cooking wedges with sour cream and chilli sauce from the recently harvested potatoes.
