TAKING the scenic route home has a lot more meaning for some lucky students at Daylesford Secondary College after last Monday when they were given a ride home in a hot air balloon.

One of many who witnessed this strange event in Daylesford, Victor Szwed, said: ‘‘The pilot had landed to drop off students and pick up other students from the school.
‘‘The pilot was brilliant and in the very calm conditions clearly knew what he was doing.’’
Mr Szwed said while the photos make it look a bit like they were close to trees, the pilot knew exactly how to manage the balloon.
The balloon is owned by a DSC teacher and is becoming a familiar sight over Daylesford.
‘‘The balloon has been out and about before over our local area, I recall seeing it twice,’’ Mr Szwed said.
