However it wasn’t the winning start they hoped for, suffering a heavy defeat, going down to Learmonth 76 to 15.
The team now sit on the bottom of the ladder; however they are hopeful to score their first win in round three of the Central Highlands Netball league, when they take on Rokewood Corindhap.
Reigning premiers Springbank continued their winning ways defeating Creswick by 37 goals.
The final score was 60 to 23.
It was also a tough weekend for both Newlyn and Clunes who also both lost their matches.
Newlyn was defeated by Bungaree 56 to 21 and Clunes lost to Buninyong 66 to 32.
The Hepburn Netball Club travelled to Beaufort for their round two clash.
The Burra’s comfortably won their match 92 to 30, it was one of the biggest wins of the round.
Saturday’s match saw the return of goal shooter Jane O’Donohue who suffered a knee reconstruction in the off season.
Hepburn got off to a quick start, leading by seven goals at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter Hepburn turned up the intensity and shut down the opposition.
Hepburn’s full court defensive pressure was key to the match.
Defenders Tara Ford and Kath Kruger continuously intercepted feeds into the goal ring.
Shooters Jane O’Donohue and Skye McDonald shot with above 80 per cent accuracy for the match.
Next week Hepburn takes on Gordon.
In other matches, Waubra and Ballan battled it out with Waubra winning by four goals.
Carngham Linton defeated Rokewood Corindhap 53 to 45, Skipton defeated Illabarook 58 to 20 and Dunnstown were big winners against Gordon 74 to 32.
