While the form during the season has not been consistently good, there have been enough solid winning performances for both teams to qualify comfortably for finals. This, in turn, is offering the club hope of premiership success.
In A-Reserve, the First Eleven will tackle their arch rivals and last year’s premiers, Barkers Creek, in a do-or-die battle that will hopefully bring out the best in the Saints.
Saints ... will need to be at their absolute best to achieve victory and go on to the grand final.
Saints go into the game as underdogs and will need to be at their absolute best to achieve victory and go on to the grand final.
By a quirk of fate, Trentham’s Second Eleven play their semi-final against Muckleford, the same team they lost to in the last round on Saturday.
The Saints will be looking for sweet revenge against them this weekend at the Old Muckleford Oval.
In the last round of normal matches completed on Saturday, the firsts had a bye and the seconds lost to Muckleford in an absorbing battle.
Trentham scored 138 on the previous Saturday with skipper Mark Reid top scoring with 66 and Michael Chew chiming in with 38.
In reply, Trentham had Muckleford in trouble at 5 for 78 but they steadied and eventually passed Trentham’s score, finishing on 6 for 150.
Wickets were shared around with Tim Chew returning the best figures of 2 for 14.
The Trentham District Cricket Club is encouraging its supporters to come along to this weekend’s finals matches and cheer the firsts and seconds teams on.
