Hepburn House’s lifestyle coordinator Kevin Connor was diagnosed with the aggressive tumour at just 44 years old.
Friends, family and strangers alike gathered at the Savoia Hotel on February 5 to help raise funds to allow Mr Connor and his partner go on a holiday before starting treatment.
The event raised more than $5000 through a silent auction as well as donations made by individuals.
All up more than $16,000 has been raised for Mr Connor by the community and members of Hepburn House.
Hepburn House facility manager Dianne Jones thanked members of the community for supporting a local, particularly those who didn’t know Mr Connor personally. “The response has been unbelievable,” Ms Jones said.
Mr Connor and his partner are currently in Tasmania ahead of his first rounds of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
