THE Daylesford and Hepburn United Soccer Club seniors won 8-1 against Forest Rangers Thirds at Wendouree on Sunday. Goals rained in the second half, after the score was 3-1 at half time.
In a fiery first half, Daylesford scored first through an own goal, but gave the lead back through another own goal. Jeff Brownscombe was close to best on ground, with new imported star Gonzalo Silva scoring two goals and nearly a hat trick on debut. Harry Robb played well all game and Abdel Bennani had a great game.
Final score: 8-1. Best: Jeff Brownscombe, Abdel Bennani, Gonzalo Silva, Zoran Drogriski, Harry Robb.
Daylesford will take on first and second on the ladder over the next two weeks. They will play Forest Rangers Green at 3pm Sunday at home.
Under 11s
THE U11s played Creswick at Ballarat.
The Saints dominated play in the first half, continually attacking the Creswick goal, resulting in the first of many clever goals for the Saints.
Score was 6-2, a win for Daylesford with goals to Tulley (2), Mehdi, Zach, Tate and Logan.
Under 13s
THE Saints were outrun and outclassed in their game at Morsehead Park against VicPark White. Within minutes of the start of the match, VicPark White scored the first of many in a first-half goal scoring spree.
Daylesford was down 7-0 and in a state of shock when they went into half-time. They looked stronger in the second half and started with attacks at goal, holding the opposition to only one goal in the second half. Things could have been worse if not for Daylesford’s Miles Wilkinson’s speed in running down the fast strikers constantly.
Score: VicPark White 8 to Daylesford 0.
Under 15s
THEe new hybrid team of Sebastopol/Daylesford came out strong against Buninyong with Taryn belting the first goal off a soaring corner by Govinda at the five-minute mark.
Jay and Santino were strong in the midfield attack and had a few near misses before Taryn snaked through the defence and clocked up his second goal for the game.
Buninyong went on the attack but Lola, Deng and Taihlen held a solid defensive line until Buninyong was awarded a free kick just outside the box and the score settled at 2-1
Majok put in a mighty performance assisting Santino to blast in an impressive third goal to bring the score to 3-1. Marlon and Deng fought off the opponents’ attack, allowing Taryn to weave through and claim his hat trick for the game. Will sealed the game with a goal to bring a final score of 5-1 to Sebastopol/Daylesford.
