Daylesford Football/Netball Club treasurer Lyndall Jenkin said whenever a home game fell on the weekend of Mother’s Day, the club would run an event tying in with Breast Cancer Network Australia’s annual Pink Sports Day campaign.
“I think it’s fair to say that we all know someone suffering from breast cancer, even if it’s not closely connected, a friend of a friend,” she said.
“We like to use it as a day of recognising the role that mums play in getting people out in the club.
“It’s also a time out for anyone that’s suffering or has family or friends that are suffering – it’s a way of getting back and connecting.”
The club will host a raffle, afternoon tea and a host of football and netball games, with all events raising funds for the BCNA.
“We’ve ordered pink netballs, pink footballs, and pink socks from the BCNA so all the teams will wear them,” Ms Jenkin said.
