Bashing and trashing is a sign of respect, and it's one sport where men and women face off without forgiveness.
This weekend, participants will strap up their skates and take part in five games of roller derby as part of ChillOut weekend.
Local librarian Allison Hadfield aka Library Fine will take on the ‘pot luck’ challenge, a co-ed game to celebrate diversity in the derby community.
She plays with Bendigo’s Dragon City Derby Dolls, saying the sport is particularly inspiring for young women.
"One of the first things people tend to notice is the range of body shapes of the players," she said.
"Big butts tend to be an asset in this game but its sometimes the tiniest players that are the hardest to get past.
Library Fine will face off against her 'derby wife' Sarah Sparkling Brute Squire - with both promising to go hard, despite their friendship.
The tournament will be held on Saturday, March 7, from 2pm to 4pm, at the Daylesford ARC.
