The building was in a state of disrepair and the kitchen did not meet Australian Health and Safety Standards.
There was also limited access for people with a disability.
But now, the community hub has been upgraded thanks to a $90,000 state government boost, $36,650 from the Lyonville Hall Committee and $8350 in-kind labour.
The makeover includes a kitchen renovation, covered outdoor area, a toilet upgrade to accessible standards, and energy efficient fixtures and appliances.
Liberal candidate for Macedon Donna Petrovich congratulated the Lyonville community on their huge fundraising efforts.
"They have helped bring this hall refurbishment to fruition creating a wonderful asset for local people and community groups," she said.
Lyonville Hall Committee member Jackie Airey said the grant would allow for weddings and larger events to be held at the hall.
"This really is our community hub and this will mean so much for our town," she said.
