A slow start cost the Saints dearly.
Trentham had plenty of the ball early on, but inaccuracy proved costly and the Saints trailed by 18 points at quarter-time.
In the second quarter the Saints came out firing and kicked six goals for the quarter to grab a four-point lead.
Neither side gave an inch in the third quarter and Campbells Creek held a two-point lead at the final change. Campbells Creek came out firing in the final quarter with the crowd behind them to kick away to win by four goals.
Goalkickers for Trentham were Luke Whitehouse with four and Mark Strickland, James Wicker, Matt Trainer, Justin Hoffman, Lewis Bruton and Shaun Harrison kicked one each.
Best for the Saints were Cal Wellings, Mark Strickland, John Nadin, John Cowell, James Gray and Jamie Cutler.
In the reserves, Campbells Creek were too strong for the Saints. Goalkickers were James Coleman with two, Trystan Paderno, Kurt Hourigan and Justin Scott with one goal.
Best for the Saints were Chello Matricardi, Dan Lendrec, Brian Purcell, Jake Sundbblom, Paul Smith and Tom Ewers.
The under-17.5 team had a bye this week and the Saints’ under-15 side had a convincing win over Campbells Creek with all players performing at their best.
The Saints’ under-12s found Campbells Creek too powerful on the day and among the best for the Saints were Tim Brown, Sterling Keane, Tyson Scoble, Corey Chaplin Bennett, Jesse Shepheard and Liam Pertzel.
In netball, the Saints got off to a good start with the 13-and-under girls having a good win. The best players were Holy Scoble and Kasey Evans.
The 15-and-under girls played well but just went down by three goals. Great play by Hayley Bourke and Tahlia Bickerdyke in defence kept the girls in the game.
The 17-and-under girls had their first win for the season, winning by 17 goals. Emma Marples was good in goals and Janell Hineman and Jamison Purcell dominated through the mid-court.
C Grade tried hard with Emma Marples, May Pratt and Bronwyn Gallagher among the best.
In B Grade, Molly Tucker, Emma Chaplin and Olivia Cobledick all tried hard but found Creek too strong.
