Addition equipment at the Daylesford exchange has allowed more ports for ADSL and internet services to be provided in the area.
"The existing infrastructure in the local exchange was struggling to meet the demand for fast internet at certain times," Telstra area general manager Bill Mundy said.
We're very excited that this upgrade will allow many of our customers to have a more consistent speed experience when using their ADSL service, either at home or at work."
Many internet users have had many problems in the past.
"We've listened to local residents who want more consistent access to higher internet speeds and the opportunity to use some of our premium products," Mundy said.
Mr Mundy said Telstra had completed work to restore damaged cable located above the ground that residents had recently highlighted.
"We are continuing to identity other issues from other residents who have also identified problems which Telstra is working towards solving."
"Since the meeting with Glenlyon residents we (Telstra) have done a lot of personal contact to help identify how Telstra can assist to identify their problems," Mundy said. "We have had many post meeting one-on-one talks as well."
Mr Mundy said consumers experiencing problems should go back to their provider to identify the fault through the natural process. " Telstra will then pick up the problem," he said.
Residents concerned about their service can contact Telstra BigPond on 13POND or visit the Telstra Store at Shop 90 Bridge Mall in Ballarat.
