In 2017, up stepped a small but hard working band of cricket enthusiasts, and three years later cricket is once again flourishing in Hepburn.
For the 2019-20 season, the Burras fielded a senior team in A-Reserve of the Castlemaine Association, losing a tight semi-final.
But it's the junior system where the club is really going forwards in leaps and bounds.
They hosted Woolies Cricket for the youngsters on Friday nights, and formed two under 13 teams for the Wednesday night competition.
The highlight of the year came with the under 16s.
Having won last year's premiership undefeated, the club decided to split the team in half and form two teams for the 10-team Castlemaine competition.
Amazingly, they both made finals.
Hepburn Blue winning their semi by nine wickets against Muckleford and Hepburn Red beating Barkers Creek by one wicket after Captain Brayden Yanner made 80 not-out, including a towering six for the winning runs.
In an incredible achievement, Hepburn Blue played Hepburn Red in the grand final.
For the record, the Reds won by five wickets, but cricket in the Hepburn region was the winner.
Stars of the year included captains Brayden Yanner and Nash Robinson, who's pace bowling a ferocious weapon.
Bodhi Robinson, a gun keeper/batsman, Will Shiell, Tyson Scoble, Nathaniel Lowe and Harry Lovett the all-rounders.
Mitch Yanner had a superb grand final to take the medal for best player.
Hepburn also had seven girls in the juniors this year led by Lucinda Lowe, who not only hit the winning runs in the grand final but won the girls junior youth premier league's best bowler in the district.
