In round 16 of Midweek Pennant, Smeaton's Division 1 team, playing at home against Sebastopol won easily by 19 shots.
Barb Adam, Helen Jenkin, Laraine Toose and skip Helen Mizzeni, won by five shots, while Des Dwyer, Sue Lafranchi, Geoff Toose and skip Rhonda Armstrong won by 15 shots, while Judy Lanfranchi's rink of Peter Kersley, Beth Davidson and Jenny Toose lost by one shot at the close of play.
In Division 2, Smeaton travelled to Sebastopol in what eventuated to a close match all day with Smeaton taking the honours by 21 shots. Winston Pickering, Marilyn Stephens, Robyn Bradshaw and skip Kerry Leishman won by six shots, while Keren May's rink of Maxine Rousch, Colin Toose, Robyn Shaw won by 16 shots and Graeme Perry's rink Bev Shaw, Joan Lafranchi and Miriam Haines went down by a mere one shot in a close game.
Division 3 celebrated a win, beating Sebastopol on its home green with a 20-shot win.
The highlight of the day was performed by Frances Muller, Ian Ross, Sue Richards and skip Robert Seamons won by a massive 21 shots. Marg Saligari, Ted Rumler, Jenny Tranter and skip Shane Slater faded over the concluding ends and went down by two-shot while Kevin Lafranchi, Judy Slater, Denis Sanford and skip Carol McKay won by one shot.
In round 17 Weekend Pennant, Division 1 celebrated a win defeating Ballarat East on its home green by two shots. The highlight of the day was performed by Alex McKee's rink of Kevin Clohesy, Greg May and David Toose winning by 17 shots, while all other rinks were beaten. Geoff Pickering's rink down by three shots, Jim Taylor's rink down by one shot and Craig McKee's rink down by 11 shots.
The Division 3 team played home to Bungaree and were easily beaten by 24 shots, with Len Robinson's rink of Winston Pickering, Bill May and Des Dwyer securing a seven-shot win, other rinks were well beaten.
Further, the club's Division 5 team had a victorious win after a trip to Ballarat East. The team won two rinks to secure a 42-shot win.
Rob Seamon's rink went down by five shots. Russell Bradshaw's rink went down by one shot. Ian Pickering's rink of Wayne Ford, Ross Dimond and Denis Sanford won by 14 shots, while Robin Cawthan's rink of Colin Toose, Helen Jenkin and Bernie Charleson won by a massive 34 shots. The Division 8 team had a bye.
The Unigrain Corporate Cup starts on Thursday, March 5 from 6.30pm. Members who know of businesses interested in playing should phone Geoff Pickering on 0418 501 080. The annual Steak and Kidney tournament will be held on March 11 from 10am.

CLUNES
The Midweek Premier Division side travelled to Sebastopol and got away to great start with good leads in all rinks. Sebastopol were able to get one point with Ian Hedger playing out a draw.
Clunes claimed the rest of the points with John Dellavedova's rink up by eight and skipper Mark Vorbach, with Debbie Annear, Terry Kinnersly and Maureen Harris, won 32-7. Clunes won outright by 33 shots.
In Midweek Division 4 at Buninyong, Clunes were able to win both rinks to claim all the points and outright by 19 shots. In Saturday Division 2 at Daylesford, both teams won two rinks with Clunes skippers Geoff Annear up by six and Alan Baird up by five. Daylesford was able to win outright by two shots.
The Saturday Division 6 side travelled to Webbcona. Clunes were able to win three rinks and record a massive 136-67 victory. The Clunes rink of skipper Terry Kinnersly with Rex Martin, Danny Spong and Ron Komsaris won their match 45-6. Clunes now sits just one point outside the final four.
Ballarat District Bowls Division's country teams played Country Week bowls at Central Wendouree last week. The pairs, triples and fours were well supported. A ladies competition was also included. Clubs have thanked Central Wendouree and BDBD officials Ken Birch and Marilyn Blake for their hard work. In the pairs event, Clunes players Laurie Judd and John Dellavedova were runners-up to Invermay's Geoff Fraser and Allan Currie.
