The exciting annual Newstead Live Music Festival is only a week or so away.
It will feature an exciting line-up and some new and familiar workshops with both intimate and large-scale gigs.
Headliners include the legendary Eric Bogle, Lucie Thorne and Michael Waugh, with a breakthrough second album and a huge following. Local youngsters Stop That Mammoth will play some headline gigs.
Workshops including festival choir, Celtic rhythm and old timey/bluegrass, are possibly irresistible. Food options look appealing and all venues are easily accessible. It's just down the road and a great little local festival. More next week.
PALAIS HEPBURN
Saturday, Sean Simmons and Bronwyn Henderson
Core members of Melbourne band The Spoils bring their "folk noir" to The Palais, armed with guitar, violin, glockenspiel, accordion and musical saw.

Featuring Norm Gray on flugelhorn and vocals and Simon Wigney on guitar, the duo plays the great American jazz standards of the 30s through to the 50s.

Aurora, who hail from Melbourne, are the acoustic leftovers after what was once a plugged-in band that took inspiration from such acts as Alice in Chains, The Tea Party and Soundgarden. Louise (the wailing banshee) and Owen (the aging metalhead) are now what's left and now produce darkly blues tinged acoustic soundtrack to sip your whiskey, or red wine, to.

Castlemaine musician Brent Shirley has been entertaining audiences for more than a decade with his soulful voice and folk, rock and country tunes. He has a new single Lost in the Rain, sure to feature at the gig.
Shirley continues to write songs, constructing "confronting yet captivating lyrics that bear my heart and soul". His extensive stage experience have seen him open for the likes of You Am I, Mia Dyson and Bob Evans.
DAYLESFORD CIDER
To help celebrate the start of 2020, the venue have extended its Twilight Series through to the end of summer. So, come along from 4-7pm for wood-fired pizza and live music by a different artist each week.
