The win was massive, and somewhat lucky given the quality of the opposition.
Daylesford was without six first team starting players.
The ever present Hiroshi Masuda put on another stunning display, scoring the first goal from 25 yards, thundering into the bar and bouncing into the goals. Vic Park had chances down the other end, and should have equalised in the first half but blazed over.
As pressure built, Vic Park found a well taken equaliser from Shogo Trevena, who was excellent all day.
Daylesford had good patches of possession, but struggled to dominate like previous weeks. Dragi Koleski and Jordy Barnes were best on ground, holding back the waves of attack time and time again.
It was Abdel Bennani, who came off the bench, who broke the hearts of Vic Park fans, heading home a classic winner in the 75th minute.
Daylesford is now three points clear on top with three games remaining.
The Division 2 team had the bye.
UNDER 12 GIRLS
The points were shared in an agonising 2-2 draw.
In an entertaining game, Daylesford started bright and had a dominant first 15 minutes.
Ellah Carpenter probably had her best game all season, helping out the midfield when needed and striking forward with pace and great passing to her partner Maddie. Ellah deservedly knocked two goals within three minutes of each other to have the girls 2-0 up.
Ballarat SC came back into the match utilising their bigger players and snatched a goal back before half-time.
The second half featured great swings of momentum. Saints goalkeeper Immogen delivered a player of the match performance in goal.
Ballarat SC got an equaliser half-way through the second half. but Daylesford pressed on, buoyed by the resurgence of the Righetti girls. Only luck and a few missed opportunities prevented them from taking the points.
UNDER 13 BOYS
The under 13 Saints faced fifth-placed Vic Park at home. The Saints started sluggishly, only creating one good opportunity when Monty narrowly missed from a free kick. The half-time score was 0-0.
The Saints started to move the ball a lot better after the break. Frey went close to scoring three or four times, and was unlucky.
Vic Park made the most of its rare opportunities in the second half, scoring a late goal with one minute remaining. The late goal not only delivered the Saints their first loss in over a year, it also delivered a blow to their championship ambitions.
