The clouds and goals rained all day, in a soggy pitch and a sunny side up result for Daylesford.
The game looked to be a close one early on, with stand-in goalkeeper Jack Nulty saving a certain goal and Adam Sadler hitting the post twice at the other end.
Enter Josh Duffy, who smashed home two critical goals and set up another in a man of the match performance.
Sadler was not far behind in the best on ground, scoring and setting up goals all day.
The defense held up well again, with Dylan Nulty having a cracker game and Josh Butler managing to get on the scoresheet with a special moment in the 56th minute.
Next week, Division 1 will take in Ballarat away in a massive game, with their two shining stars returning, Jordy Barnestromin and Owen Turbo, from international duty in Thailand.
DIVISION 2
The Division 2 lads can be proud of an excellent performance, winning 4-2 against Vic Park, which sits above them on the ladder.
Daylesford started well with the return of a favourite son, Toneka Costa, who bagged two splendid goals in a man of the match performance. Jack Nulty helped the joy, with a nice goal from the spot and some decent crashing about up front.
Josh Smith had a good day in goals, along with standouts from Murray Pelham, Abdel Faketani and Jaycob Cobbsy.
The defence was solid, with good performances from Ivan Carter, Damien Tinnetti and Tim Powell. The team played some nice football, with Dragi Koleski holding the team together well.
UNDER 12 GIRLS
Daylesford took on ladder leaders Ballarat City in a definite game of two halves.
The Saints had the best of the first half.
With great play from all, starting at the back with Imogen and her great throw outs, Anouk with great clearances and Stevie stopping City's attacks.
Dynamic play upfront by the amazing Elle and Maddie meant that the Saints went into the half 2-0 up, with two goals to Maddie. The girls definitely could have gone in to the half-time break with a bigger lead, as they had multiple shots on goals.
In the second half, City showed why it is top as despite being a player down. Daylesford defended strongly with great play from Zara, Ruby and Ava in the halves, but City clawed one back and then drew level in the last minute when a throw in from the side was missed by all in defence for the lone striker to poke it in.
UNDER 13
The Under 13 side scored an impressive 6-0 win over Ballarat City.
Cold, wet and windy conditions welcomed the team at Morsehead Park.
The Saints started the match full of run and created a few early chances, with Monty and Frey converting and giving the team a 2-0 lead at the half-time break.
Ball movement was the message at half-time and the team started to deliver on this message in the second.
Mehdi played an attacking midfield role and created some nice plays and scored a nice goal.
Tate played an outstanding game troubling the Ballarat defence out on the right side, scoring a great goal with a nice flick turn which saw him one on one with the goalkeeper, he calmly slotted it home.
The team finished strongly with strikers Frey and Monty scoring one each in the second half, each finishing the match with a brace.
The side still has plenty to work on, as it will take discipline and commitment from the entire team in order to finish the season off strongly.
This coming Friday night, the team will take on Ballarat FC under lights at Morsehead Park. A win will ensure top spot for the Saints.
On Sunday, the Saints face Sebastopol at home which will be a season-shaping clash, first vs second. Getting maximum points is critical for the championship defence.
It's a big weekend of soccer for the under 13s and the side is looking forward to the challenge.
Two strong performances are required, and the coaches have full confidence the team will give it their best.
