With a full squad and some help from the magic-footed Lachlan Torpedo, it was going to be a good show.
But unfortunately, the lads fell apart to lose 4-1.
Damien Tinetti made his seconds club debut and dominated the match, along with Torpedo, Dragi Koleski and Brendan.
The Saints started well, but soon went behind to a great Bosher strike into the bottom corner.
Daylesford pulled one back quickly to make it 1-1 and started to play some excellent football end to end.
But despite their dominant possession and great football, the Vikings scored two more classic finishes to lead 3-1 at half-time.
Damien Tinetti made his seconds club debut and dominated the match, along with Torpedo, Dragi Koleski and Brendan.
The Daylesford side missed a penalty and lived to rue their missed opportunity.
The second half was a similar tale, as the Vikings added another against the run of play, eventually winning 4-1 despite Daylesford hitting the bar and missing some chances.
It was a tough result for the Saints to take home. For all the hard work, catches do really win matches.
Both teams will be back in action next weekend in a must-win round for both squads.
The Saints will be playing at home at 1pm and 3pm.
A win will allow the Division 1 team to sit on top, with only five games remaining. The Saints will be without top scorer Owen Turbitt and key defender Jordy Barnes, but will make do with an otherwise full squad.
