HEPBURN Football Netball Club's under-12s team have claimed the 2019 Central Highlands Football League Lightning Premiership.

The Burras travelled to Waubra with over 30 players hoping to get some time on the ground.

Hepburn came up against Bungaree in their first game, with the young Burras impressing every by-stander as they easily won the match 73 to 2.

In their next game, the Burras met Rokewood and after another physical match, proved they were a force to be reckoned with, with a 66 to 2 win.

Pitted against Skipton in the semi final, who they played the previous day, the team entered the match with quiet confidence of a win.

It was a tough contest, but the Burras recorded a 29 point win, with the final score 32 to 3.

After a long day of football, the Burras entered into the grand final match, pitted against Buninyong - a tough side to overcome.

Hepburn captain Dom Penny won the toss and decided to kick against a strong breeze, which was a good move for the final quarter.

Oscar McLucas dominated the ruck while Dom continually drove the ball forward to small forwards Oscar Stone and Hugo Le Fevre.

Buninyong's defence couldn't keep up and the Burras held a 12-point lead at half time.

Hepburn's back line was led by Edan Clarke and Kooper Thomas, who repelled every forward thrust Buninyong attempted.

Every player contributed to the Hepburn Burras' convincing 36 to 6 win, to claim the cup in style.

Meanwhile, Hepburn's under-13s netball side also headed to Waubra to participate in the Central Highlands Netball League Lightning Premiership.

The team came up against some outstanding teams but were able to display their skills and teamwork to win all of their games to land them in the grand final.

Hepburn came up against Bungaree - a more experienced team- in the grand final.

The Burras finished the day as runners up, but were able to keep their heads held high that they did their best.
