Kath Morrison began her first volunteering role aged 15-years-old. It was through this role, at the Trentham Girl Guides, that she developed what would be a life-long dedication to the community.

Now, 64 years later, at age 79, Ms Morrison is still volunteering and making her community a better place for those who live in it.

Ms Morrison volunteers at Hepburn Health's Trentham Aged Care facility where she exchanges residents' library books and hosts a high tea four times a year.

Trentham Aged Care Facility's Director of Nursing, Paul Hilder, said she provided a special atmosphere for residents. 

"She brings her cherished grandmother's 150 year old crockery and manages the High Teas from start to finish."

Ms Morrison said she enjoyed every moment of her volunteering at the facility.

"It takes me the whole day but I love it," she said. "[Volunteering] makes me feel part of the community"

Ms Morrison was inducted to Hepburn Shire's Heather Mutimer Honour Roll for Women on International Women's Day for her services to volunteering. 

She has four children and six grandchildren and even volunteers at her grandson's school in Flemington, just as she did at her own children's school when they were younger.

Ms Morrison laughed off the question of where she sources all of her energy from.

"It beats pushing a vacuum cleaner around," she said.

Trentham residents would remember her as the local postie. After delivering the mail, she would backtrack and collect groceries for the elderly residents who left their shopping bags out for her.

She encouraged people of all ages to do what they can to help others.
