Daylesford Cinema's Linda Caroll said the cinema had put on fundraisers in the past but never to the scale it did on March 14.
The community raised $900 through admissions to the film - which the distributors gave the cinema group for free after finding out it would be screened for a fundraiser - though most of the money was raised through the generosity of cash donations.
Dean Jones, from Daylesford CFA, said the donation was being distributed to all eight brigades in the Glenlyon Group - Glenlyon, Daylesford, Hepburn, Franklinford, Porcupine Ridge, Leonards Hill, Musk and Trentham.
"The money matters, but to know the community is grateful for what we do is great," he said.
Daylesford Cinema screens films every weekend at Daylesford Town Hall until it moves into its purpose built home at The Rex.
