Ambulance Victoria will host an information session in regards to the possibility of creating a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) in Trentham.
The purpose of the information session is to gauge whether or not the Trentham community is interested in putting their hands up to become Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteers.
Young Citizen of the Year Ethan Brown first floated the idea as a way to improve response times during medical emergencies last year.
CERT teams are comprised of volunteer first responders who live in typically less populated regional areas.
Volunteers are dispatched to emergencies at the same time as an ambulance crew in response to a 000 call.
CERT teams work in pairs on an "on call" basis and are trained to provide advanced first aid services in their communities so to provide immediate care before an ambulance arrives.
CERT volunteers do not transport patients to hospital but do provide an emergency response in locations which have no ambulance station and a low ambulance caseload.
The CERT information session will take place in the Trentham Football Club rooms from 7-8pm on Wednesday, April 3.
