The health providers are proposing to join their services 'to improve patient care and community health outcomes' and are awaiting ministerial approval.
The providers have been operating under the same chief executive for the past two years. It also has a memorandum of understanding in place for the two services to work in partnership.
Chief Executive Officer of Hepburn Health Service and Kyneton District Health, Maree Cuddihy said the proposal would aim to enhance the capability of the health services to meet the needs of the community and improve access to personalised, high quality health care.
She said the amalgamation of the two health services would not result in any job losses and hospitals and facilities would remain at their current locations in Daylesford, Creswick, Clunes, Trentham and Kyneton.
She said there would be scope to enhance services, increase access and hours and create new services to meet the demands of the community.
"Staff are valued and needed in each location to continue to provide quality health care to each community. All existing staff will continue in their current roles. There will be no job losses or overlap," she said.
"We want to retain staff and also be able to attract additional staff and specialists to the area. The proposal would also provide staff development opportunities and enable the sharing of knowledge and expertise."
Consultation is currently being undertaken on the draft strategic plans for the health services, which outline the priorities of the services for the next three years.
These include identifying and strengthening acute service delivery and providing safe and appropriate healthcare.
The draft also outlines strengthening aged care services and partnerships in community health as priorities, as well as developing and strengthening workplace culture, staff engagement and leadership development.
