The former Addas Israel School principal would face 74 charges of sex abuse and rape if returned to Australia, but has been fighting extradition from Israel.

The Jerusalem District Court overnight ruled Leifer would remain in jail for the remainder of her legal proceedings as she undergoes another psychiatric assessment, with her lawyers arguing she is mentally unfit.

"So many of these contrivances, this fraud about how she's not able to come home, we don't buy that and I don't think anyone in the Victorian community accepts that," Mr Andrews said on Tuesday.

"She should be extradited, she should come home and she should face scrutiny, face the criminal justice system and get the justice she so richly deserves."

Mr Andrews last year met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, telling him the only just outcome was for Leifer to face a jury of her peers.

"We'll keep applying that pressure, it's put in respectful terms, but we think there is only one choice and that is for her to be sent home," Mr Andrews said.

It emerged in recent days that Israel's deputy health minister Ya'acov Litzman was questioned by police over allegations of attempting to source psychiatric evaluations that would deem Leifer unfit to face trial in Australia.

Mr Andrews did not think any Australian representation had been made to the Israeli government on the matter.

Leifer's extradition hearing is due to continue on March 6.
