Friday, Freya Josephine Hollick, free gig @ Palais
Freya Josephine Hollick is a Ballarat-born and bred country gal, receiving strong interest in alt country and Americana circles, playing an enormous amount of prominent gigs far and wide.
The old-timey country songbird brings blues and honky tonk goodness that transports you back to early Appalachia – through wartime romance and the golden era of country music – giving them her own twist with a unique singing voice.
Hollick has toured with the likes of Justin Townes Earle, Willie Watson, Joshua Hedley and Joe Pug, and has made an array of festival appearances. In 2018, she released her highly praised album Feral Fusion with performances at Festival of Voices and the Melbourne Recital Centre.
She’s kicked off 2019 with a trip to Tamworth and then this free gig, one not to miss. In early March, she’s off the US to record with Lucinda Williams’ unbelievably good band Buick 6.
