The third-placed team rose to victory over Sebastopol with a 10 shot win, 75 shots to 65.
Skip Jenny Jolliffe’s team won their rink by four shots, with Robert Seamons’ rink reigning with 12.
Though despite a strong start to the day, skip Joan Lafranchi’s rink faded towards the end of play and went down by six shots.
On the same day, the last placed division one team went down by sixteen shots and the division three team, who sits fifth on the ladder, went down by three shots.
Smeaton’s division one team lost 58 shots to 78 Sebastopol.
It was closer in division three, with Smeaton losing by a close three shots to City Oval, 71 shots to 74.
Meanwhile, division one players from Clunes Bowling Club travelled to The Avenue’s home ground in Bacchus Marsh.
Third-placed Avenue were able to win all three rinks and post a solid 31 shot victory over seventh-placed Clunes.
Mark Vorbach’s team played a strong game, going down by a solitary shot.
The club’s division five team travelled to Victoria Club in Ballarat, able to win only one rink. Victoria prevailed 78 shots to 73.
