Four family members, long-standing Clunes bowlers, played their final pennant match together.
For 89-year-old Ken, Monday’s Ballarat District Bowls Division midweek division one pennant fixture will be his last competitive match – and the team lifted to deliver a memorable win over the top side.
Mark was joined by mother Dawn and wife Narelle in what made for a special occasion as Clunes defeated City Oval by seven shots.
“Given it was Dad’s last pennant game...it was quite a fitting end to his bowling career,” Mark said.
“To play together as a family, it’s a magnificent feeling.”
Mark has been lucky enough to play football and cricket alongside his Dad, a devoted sportsman in his right.
“It was a fitting finale to his career.
“It’s been a good career for all of us.”
Ken has been a member at Clunes Bowling Club for roughly 50 years.
