Creswick faced off against Kingston Black in an intriguing round six A-grade match at Mount Prospect Tennis Association on Saturday.

The two ladder leaders approached the game with two respective straight wins each from previous weeks.
Creswick’s Tim Stirling and Ryan Bolton took the first men’s set 8-5 from Kingston Black’s Hugh McManus and Leigh Campbell. The Creswick outfit continued to dominate in the second set as Stirling partnered with Griffin Andrews. The pair easily took the set 8-3 over Kingston Black’s McManus and Drew Elliot. Kingston Black’s Campbell and Eliot came back strong in the third set, driving home a win 8-5 over Bolton and Andrews.
In the women’s sets, Creswick’s the Tayte and Lily Fraser accounted for Kingston’s Samantha Huggett and Tracey Holmes with a convincing 8-2 win. Huggett then partnered with Rachel White in the second set, hitting back at Tayte Fraser and Ruby Halvy, taking the set 8-2. The tables were even going into the third set, with Lily Fraser and Halvy comfortably securing a 8-4 win over Kingston Black’s Holmes and White.
And so Creswick had a nine game lead up its sleeve with the commencement of the final three mixed sets of the day.
But top-of-the-ladder Kingston Black fought back, securing all three sets 8-1, 8-4 and then 8-1.
Kingston Black’s Hugh McManus, Leigh Campbell, Drew Elliot, Samantha Huggett, Rachel White and Tracey Holmes ended the day on a score of 5/54.
Creswick’s Tim Stirling, Ryan Bolton, Griffin Andrews, Lily Fraser, Tayte Fraser and Ruby Halvy ended the day with a score of 4/45.
As such, with their 18 game advantage, Kingston easily wiped out their name game deficit and finished the day with a nine game win.
Kingston Black look ahead to a tough matchup with St Augustines in round seven, while the two newest A-grade teams, Creswick and Ballarat Berties, will face off.
Also in the A-grade, Mt Prospect’s Marcus Driscoll, Geoff Reese, Terry Drew, Raylene Reese, Jennie Rogers and Jodie-Lee Ferguson ended the day with 6/64, defeating Smeaton’s Adam Sewell, Jayden Toole,James Maher, Tracey Amarant, Libby Vanderkley and Anne Turley, 3/52.
