Friday, Prayerbabies @ Spa Bar Daylesford
Self-described as “spreading lemon-butter harmonies overtoasted guitars, with double-choc bass and drums on the side”, the band of four – Ian Birdwheel-Frights, Paul Dalby, Dan Harvey and Nick Thorpe – concoct a brew of country, blues and gospel, also incorporating elements of Latin, disco, rock and pop.
Head to their website to have a listen to some stuff including their straight country/gospel/blues and also reworked country and western versions of Livin' Thang, Know Your Product and Shivers.
Saturday, Temple of Tunes @ Spa Bar Daylesford

Friday, Wreckless Eric @ Theatre Royal, Castlemaine
A nice flash of nostalgia assured at the reading of this name by people of a certain age – particularly those who attended uni gigs in Melbourne in the 1980s.
Wreckless Eric was an original Stiff Records artist in 1977 alongside Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe, the Damned and Ian Dury.
Without doubt, he is one of England’s great underground songwriters.
His classic Whole Wide World has been covered by the Monkees, Green Day, Mental As Anything, the Replacements, the Proclaimers and even Will Ferrell (in Stranger Than Fiction).
Wreckless Eric performs completely solo with acoustic and electric guitars.
He has not toured in Australia since 1980. He says was “busy, it was a long way, and nobody ever asked him”.
Friday, Jordie Lane @ Bridge Hotel, Castlemaine
Jordie Lane, the much-loved Australian indie/roots artist who recently moved from Melbourne to Nashville via LA, returns with latest album Glassellland, which received its worldwide release in September.
The album has appeared on the AMA Americana album chart, cracking the top 100 in its first week.
