It was mixed results across the board for all divisions of Smeaton Bowls Club during round seven of the midweek pennant.

Smeaton’s division one team went down by three shots in an incredibly tight game with Creswick.
The ladies put their all into their respective games with one win and two losses.
Elizabeth Cosgrave, Sue Lafranchi, Maureen Goldsmith and skip Jenny Toose’s rink enjoyed a strong thirteen shot win while Beth Davidson, Helen Jenkin, Judy Lafranchi and skip Helen Mizzeni’s rink went the other way, with the team losing by fourteen. Miriam Haines, Keren May, Rhonda Armstrong and skip Kevin Clohesy’s missed out by a mere two shots.
Smeaton’s division three team travelled to Learmonth but the day ended in a narrow loss of six shots after two narrow losses and a nail biting win.
Graeme Perry, Robyn Bradshaw, Laraine Toose and skip Carol McKay went down by a small margin of three shots, while Peter Kersley, Robin Cawthan, Maxine Rousch and went down by four. Winson Pickering, Barb Adam, Joan Lafranchi and skip Marilyn Stephens won by one shot.
In division four, the tables were turned as Smeaton came out strong to defeat the Mt Xavier outfit by thirty two shots. Val Rumler, Ted Rumler, Jenny Tranter and skip Shane Slater secured a seventeen shot win.
Smeaton’s second rink of Sheila Prendergast, Esme Slater, Sue Richards and skip Robert Seamons had a strong 13 shot win while Ian Ross, Frances Muller, Judy Slater and skip Marg Saligari won narrowly by two shots.
There was no Saturday pennant due to the Steller Victoria pennant being played in Shepparton. Smeaton Bowls Club was well represented with a number of players making the trip to play in the tournament.
Smeaton Bowls Club will host a Mixed Fours Twilight Tournament on Thursday November 22.
