Saturday, Next Episode @ Blue Bean Cafe
Sunday, Broderick Smith @ Bridge Hotel, Castlemaine
After decades on the Australian music stage, Smith has a long list of credits, most notably as a member of Australian legends The Dingoes.
Smith’s fabulous new album Man Out of Time – his first since 2009 – with long-time associate Matt Walker is being released simultaneously with his first book.
There’s also been a Dingoes reunion and the album Tracks. As a local resident, “Brod” is known to many as an affable and approachable gentleman. In reality, chances to see play live are all too rare. In a special intimate performance he will be accompanied on keys by Richard Tankard.
Queenscliff Music Festival, November 23-25
A chance to hit the road and see many of your favorites from visits to the Old Hepburn Hotel.
Chris Wilson and Sarah Carroll’s young boy Fenn Wilson will make his first appearance. Most will remember the shy young boy who has developed into a seasoned performer, wowing crowds at the pub with his interpretations of Big Star and of course Elvis’s Can’t Help Falling In Love With You.
This Way North is Leisha Jungalwalla (Jungal) and Cat Leahy, who has worked with and promoted regular acts such as Sal Kimber & the Rollin' Wheel, Lisa Miller, Liz Stringer and Lucie Thorne. Leahy brings solid, groove-based left-of-centre drumming, while Jungalwalla offers wonderful swampy slide guitar, tasty electric guitar work and soulful vocals. Their Shane O’Mara-produced EP Don’t You Fly is a beauty. The duo often sounds like a full band, driving, bluesy, soulful and rocking.
And then of course there’s the headliners, Courtney Barnett and Kasey Chambers.
