Mt Prospect and Kingston Black had close matches, with the former eventually taking home an overall win by eight games.
Mt Prospect had three strong men’s players, Ben Reese, Geoff Reese and Marcus Driscoll, who made it difficult for Kingston’s Hugh McManus, Drew Elliot and Matthew Shaddock. After a hard fought match, Mt Prospect won all three men’s sets 8-3, 8-7 and 8-1.
But Kingston Black’s women, Rachel White, Tracey Beaston and Tracey Holmes played hard, winning all three sets against Mt Prospect’s Andrea Bauska, Jennie Rogers and Jodie-Lee Ferguson 7-8, 6-8 and 5-8.
Even so, Mt Prospect had a seven game lead heading into the final three mixed sex sets.
The first set went to Mt Prospect, 8-6, which pushed their advantage to nine games.
Kingston Black’s Drew Elliot and Tracey Beaston hit back at Mt Prospect and won their set 2-8.
The game was close, with Mt Prospect taking a three game lead into the final mixed set for the day before Mt Prospect won the final set 8-3 to win the day overall by eight games.
Overall, Mt Prospect’s Ben Reese, Geoff Reese, Marcus Driscoll, Andrea Bauska, Jennie Rogers and Jodi-Lee Ferguson, 5/60 defeated Kingston Black’s Hugh McManus, Drew Elliot, Matthew Shaddock, Rachel White, Tracey Beaston and Tracey Holmes 5/52.
